It has been a long and trying process to get this job completed, but it appears that at last the hard work and patience of the volunteers who have helped make this project happen is soon to be rewarded.
The AMA approved bathroom project, the largest undertaking since the Veterans Community Center was acquired by the organization, is nearing completion! Much work has been done to secure the walls of the main building to accommodate the sturdy framing for an addition such as this. Then securing donations of materials from thoughtful donors who believe in the mission of this wonderful Vet Center (which we'll name in detail on another post once this is totally complete), to building out the walls, floors and installation of a secure door to the exterior of the building. Then gratefully, the beginning of the finish work is being done. Tile has been added to flooring and partial walls in both Men's and Women's facilities, with grout just a few days ago. Lighting has been installed too. To accommodate our wheelchair or other handicapped guests, the lights are "automatic", which means they will turn on and off by themselves, triggered by movement into the space, and timed out if no movement is detected. So that way, nobody has to enter the space without light searching for a switch, and when the lights go out it saves energy and money. Here are the latest photos taken on 5/15/17, and partitions are due in this week, along with the all important plumbing to finish off the job before the big party this Saturday here at the Center. Thanks to all who have helped with this important project!
