Welcome to Veterans Community Center in Citrus Heights
We have formed Veterans Golf Park for Disabled Vets, a 501(c)3 California non-profit Corporation (#3412754), located at the Veteran's Community Center in Citrus Heights, CA to provide a much needed program, free to eligible veterans. This program is geared to change the hard-wiring of the brain and provide a positive thought path to counteract the negative mental process that is plaguing veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Many of these veterans are challenged in readjusting their physical and emotional conditions. As a result, many have broken marriages, lost homes, lost jobs and have lost touch with family and friends. These veterans need help, and need you to come to their aid.

According to Dr. Wayne Gordon, a nationally known Neuro-psychologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, over 320,000 veterans are suffering today from Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) disabilities. Dr. Gordon and Dr. Bob Rotella, a world famous Sports Psychologist, both stated that our FREE program, using golf to change the hard-wiring of the brain, could have beneficial effects in treating PTSD and TBI. The Price Tag for Federal treatment is over 12 billion dollars. That's why you and I need to help.
Our Veterans Community Center at 6921 Sylvan Road, Citrus Heights, CA., 95610, offers all members of the United States Military Services, past and present, an opportunity to come together. Together they can share and relive their experiences during military life. Though not all have experienced the same trials, hardships and tribulations, sharing with each other how they have dealt with their own particular personal and survival issues seems to fill one or more special needs that Veterans yearn for. This, for some, offers solutions. You may supply a much needed answer for someone else, or, on the other hand, you might find an answer to the problem you are facing yourself. Come! Help or be helped!
Currently, until our big project to bring the restrooms up to ADA code is completed, (UPDATE - the project is COMPLETE!) we are open for coffee, snacks and viewing the Center Monday through Friday from 9am until 1pm. Currently Tuesdays and Thursdays we serve lunch for our Vets, Tuesdays the menu varies and Thursdays is "Hot Dog" day where we serve up great Dogs and fixings too! Check with us on Saturday too, same hours - we are open on some Saturdays too! Once we have the building up to code, we can open full time and begin our Veteran education programs, among other activities to help our vets.
Let our motto be, "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother."

Special Thanks to Congressman Ami Bera and His Staff

A special "Thank You" to local representative to the US Congress, Dr Ami Bera, and his staff who have shown support for this cause and are engaged in helping us succeed in bringing the newly acquired property in Citrus Heights (see the full story here) up to code and make it a safe place for Veterans and their families to gather and also to heal from the effects of PTSD and TBI.

We Need Volunteers!
We need volunteers to deliver our ParaGolfers and teach disabled veterans how to use them safely. We need volunteers to aid and assist each veteran in his or her rehabilitation program. We need volunteers to help man our Veterans Center. We need volunteers to run our clubhouse, mow the greens, mow the fairways, water and maintain our golf course when it is completed. Will you volunteer? Our sister course, "American Lake Veterans Golf Course," Lakewood, Washington, has over 150 volunteers; veterans, retired military and civilians, that run and maintain their golf course for disabled veterans, and that is our goal for this project in Northern California.
We Need Funds to Complete Projects and Help our Vets!
Not able to volunteer but want to contribute financially? We appreciate you and need your help too! Please feel free to look through our site here to see all that we are doing. Mainly we are trying to complete construction on the Community Center and update the public restrooms. Can you help? If so, please use the button below to facilitate your contribution. Thank you!
