About Veterans Golf Park
Why do we call ourselves "Veterans Golf Park"? We use golf as a therapy tool to change the hard-wiring of the brain for our Disabled Veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), sight-impairment, and all kinds of other medical conditions suffered while fighting for our freedom. They have paid a terrible price protecting us and our way of life. We are "searching" for these disabled veterans to offer a free path back out into the sunlight. These heroes deserve every chance to recover as much of what they have lost as possible.
Our golf program will endeavor to teach them how to use golf as a therapy tool to make a hard-wiring change in the brain, substituting new thought-patterns for the disabling ones.

Our Veterans Community Center
Recently we were blessed to be able to acquire a rather historic building in Citrus Heights, CA and are in the process of turning it into a meeting place and gathering spot for our veterans. The building was originally built in 1862 as a schoolhouse and was called Sylvan School. Years later it became a central meeting place for the community of Citrus Heights and served as it's center for over 40 years. When the years eventually took their toll on the old building, Citrus Heights decided to build another facility and put this one on the market. We at Veterans Golf Park thought if we could get enough help we could restore the old place and it's location and property would serve our cause and vets to a tee. Below are some photos of the building when we first got it and the progress we have made with help from volunteers to bring it along. There is still more to do - we desperately need to rebuild restroom facilities here in order to accommodate a number of people - and we need your help to get us there. But so far, so good!

Why Your Help is Greatly Needed
We are designing a golf course for disabled veterans. Help!! Support our Wounded Warriors! We also need funds to complete the renovations on the Veterans Center too!
Volunteer Your Time or Your Treasure
Jack Nicklaus Design has offered their services to prepare a preliminary study of our 18 hole golf course. Meanwhile, Mather Golf Course has offered the use of their facilities so that we can begin our rehabilitation program now.
Let our motto be, "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother."
We need volunteers:
-to deliver our ParaGolfers and teach our veterans how to use them safely
-to aid and assist each veteran in his or her rehabilitation program
-to help man our offices
-to run our clubhouse, mow the greens, mow the fairways, water and maintain our golf course when it is completed

Our sister course, "American Lake Veterans Golf Course" in Lakewood, Washington, has over 150 volunteers; veterans, retired military and civilians, that run and maintain their golf course for disabled veterans. We need a similar effort here in Northern CA!
