Want to help a disabled vet?? We need your help to purchase our new headquarters!!
A 2011 study shows: 1,910,000 California Veterans have service connected disability.
The Greater Sacramento Area has 38,504 disabled vets. Our veterans can't wait for the overloaded Oakland V.A. Regional Office to act!
Veterans Golf Park for Disabled Vets, a 501(c)3 California non-profit Corporation (#3412754), is making a difference. We have made an offer to buy the Citrus Heights (CA) Community Club House on Sylvan Road. We intend this to be the center point and headquarters for a pilot program to change the hard wiring of the brain for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) sufferers.
Golf is the vehicle for change.
The 2000 square foot facility will provide an all-weather training center. Along with the arrangements we have with Mather Golf Course's participation, we plan to help our veterans to get back out into the sunshine.
This will also be offered as a meeting place for our disabled veterans where they can get a cup of coffee, have a veteran to talk to, and have someone available who cares.
There will be no charge to the veterans for our services, our program will be run by volunteers who have been there before and know how tough the road to recovery is.
The Citrus Heights Community Club House as it once was - the Sylvan School - shortly after it was built in 1862
Bob Rotella, noted Sports Psychologist for the leading professional and amateur golfers in the world states that he believes our system can change the hard-wiring in the brain from negative to positive.
Dr. Wayne Gordon, Nuero-Psychologist from Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, has been working with patients with traumatic brain injury for over 40 years. He states he believes that our system will help.
Mr. Rotella, Dr. Gordon and Ken Venturi, well known long time Golf Analyst for CBS SportsTelevision, all serve on our Advisory Board.
We can't implement this program without your help! We need $100,000 to purchase this Community Club House on Sylvan Road.
