Veteran's Golf Park has acquired the property that was the Citrus Heights Community Center and originally the Sylvan School for our Veterans! Special thanks to all who helped contribute to this cause! NOW we get to work!
One of the key reasons this property was for sale in the first place is that it is generally in need of major repairs. The City no longer wanted or had the resources to bring it up to code, so we've stepped in to not only preserve an original landmark in the area, but to use it for one of the best causes around - to help our Vets who have done so much for us.
That's the good news....now the challenge: WE have to get the building up to standards!
So again, we are asking for your help. If you can donate any time, any resources (we need building materials, time to tear down and reconstruct, plumbing, etc) or simply money...we can use your help!
Recently through the Congressional office of our local representative, newly elected Ami Bera, we have gained some help with potential guidance and funds for the reface of this historic building. Thank you Congressman Bera!!
Also, our local Carmichael Home Depot has gotten involved and is looking to try and contribute to this cause as well. Thank you to Larry Snyder, Manager of this Home Depot store and for his efforts to get his company involved too. The first order of business is to replace the worn out (and leaky!) roof, and representatives visited the property of the Old School House the first week of this month (June 2013). We are both excited and hopeful that these groups will be able to assist in this endeavor!
It's happening Vets! Soon we'll have this historic building as a gathering place for you to use and that is just the beginning! Thank you again to all who have and will continue to help with this amazing cause!!
