Announcing the Soroptimist Live Your Dreams Awards 2025 application window is officially open! The Live Your Dreams Awards (LYD) provides cash awards to women who are the primary financial support for their families and are seeking to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. This award helps women overcome financial barriers so they can achieve their goals and create a better future for themselves and their families. The sponsoring club is Soroptimist International of Folsom El Dorado Hills (SIFEDH). The club is looking for applicants in Sacramento and El Dorado counties. The LYD Application window is from August 1 - November 15th, 2025. They will fund 3 applications:

Announcing a key event for our area Veterans. From September 30 to October 2nd, we are announcing the Sacramento Stand Down Event. This organization has been serving Veterans since 1992. They offer a wide variety of service to assist Veterans in need in our area and we are here to support their efforts. Please note the details on the flyer below and make plans to attend this helpful event in the Greater Sacramento Area this year!
Due to the recent passing of our co-founder Jeanne Pulley (Rounsavell), we will be cancelling our planned Luau Fundraiser. In addition, the Center will be closed this week (Aug 11-15). We will reopen next Monday, August 18th.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Center, and we look forward to serving our Veterans as we move ahead. August is a HOT month, and so it only fits that our hottest event of the year, our 5th Annual Hawaiian Luau Fundraiser Event is this month! Don't miss this, it's a ton of fun and food is tremendous too!

Join us for a fun night at the Veterans Community Center! It's FREE and put on to boost community-building and police-community partnerships with our neighbors. Good food and tunes! It's that time of year again! Time for Memorial Day weekend and time for our Annual Memorial Day FREE Concert! It's a quick 1 hour event, but one not to miss! Please join us!
Details below: Veterans Community Center, Citrus Heights, CA has announced a special lunch scheduled for Tuesday March 18th celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Oh, we know that is the day after the actual recognized holiday, but why not extend it a day? We think its a great idea!
Come join us for Corned Beef and Cabbage beginning service at 11am! Grab a ticket at the Center or let us know if you are coming and we can hold it at the door for you. See you then! Announcement: This Saturday, November 30th at 8:15am, there will be an easy, scenic 7 mile day hike along the Nimbus Dam trail in Folsom. Why not come take a stroll? Beautiful scenery, beautiful pace and work off a little turkey! Details below.
Announcing the most popular and robust fundraiser on our calendar each year, the Annual Hawaiian Luau Event for 2024! This year the event will be held on Saturday evening, August 24th.
The food is always exceptional, the entertainment is grand and captivating, and silent auction prizes are tremendous. Save the date! All the information is listed below on our flyer. We hope to see you there! It's that time of year again! Time for our annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for our Veterans Community Center in Citrus Heights.
This is ALWAYS one of our most popular and fun events! There will be music by "Uncle John's Band" - playing classic country hits, and great eats with homemade (OK, Center made by our Food prep Staff) spaghetti with meat sauce (or without for those who prefer to skip the beef and sausage), salad and breadsticks o'plenty! See the Flyer below with all the details and how to get tickets for this no-miss event. A quick note about something not mentioned on the flyer: We will have limited Beer and Wine available for $5 for those who would like to enjoy a libation. Water will be provided for free. We will also have a "silent" auction with several nice gift baskets and other gifts available. Tickets sold at the gate, and you can choose which prizes you'd like to get a shot at. We will pick tickets for each toward the end of the evening. Come enjoy with us! Food, fun, music and surprises! P.S. Parking is FREE and right next door to the Center in the vacant lot. Close parking to the building will be for handicapped stickered vehicles only! |
About VCCJames Newton Rounsavell was the Founder of Veterans Golf Park for Disabled Vets, dba Veterans Community Center. Jim was a life long golfer and began to realize that golf could help disabled vets with PTSD and TBI, two very degrading but all too common syndromes that affect our Vets. Archives
