8/26/2014

Last Saturday, August 23rd, was the annual Veterans Appreciation Picnic at Rusch Park in Citrus Heights. Veterans Golf Park, as the Veterans Community Center, had a booth set up for volunteer sign ups and general support and information about our program.

There was a nice turnout for the event, and VGP welcomed the chance to interact with many of our Vets as well as supporting family and friends from the community.  Here are some photos from the event:

The Rotary Club of Citrus Heights showed off the work of member extraordinaire and President Jessica Mang who was the main designer and painter - great job Jessica!
If you didn't get a chance to attend, but would still like to volunteer at the Center, please contact Jean or Jim Rounsavell at 916.757.9193 or email at information@veteransgolfpark.com

PictureLincoln Hills GC
Due to unforeseen circumstances, this year's Golf Scramble has been cancelled. We hope that anyone who set aside the date has not been too badly inconvenienced.

It is the intention of Veterans Golf Park to have the annual event starting again next year, so feel free to inquire ahead of time regarding that event.  Also, since the purpose of this event has always been to raise money for the veterans we help with this organization, any donations would be greatly appreciated and utilized for that purpose.  Thank you all for your continued support!   You can go HERE to donate...Thank you!

    About VCC

James Newton Rounsavell is the Founder of Veterans Golf Park for Disabled Vets.  Jim was a life long golfer and began to realize that golf could help disabled vets with PTSD and TBI, two very degrading but all too common syndromes that affect our Vets.

Several years ago the charity got a heads up on the sale of the former Citrus Heights Community Center on Sylvan Road, and was able to acquire the property.  It has become the center of focus and attention for the Veterans here and that tradition continues with Jim's wife Jeanne after his passing.
