"Today marks the 6th anniversary of my second brain surgery and stroke. I am very grateful today for what I have. I would not trade it for anything. I am most grateful to my family and friends and everyone in my life who has stuck close by my side. This year I completed my B.S. in Computer Science and a 100 mile bike ride among other challenges. After my hospital stays the first year or so I slept so much of the day and was on so many medications I worked my way up to 270 lbs today I have worked down to about 210. Every day is a chance for me to be in better shape than the day prior. On Sunday, January 25, 2009 I received an early birthday present: a recumbent bike. Little did I know six years later I would be able to say: "Since January 1st 2014 I have ridden roughly 3,216 miles and climbed 84,934 ft (next year I hope to do more) Matt Cardoza, has been a blessing to our Veterans. We are so grateful tor the day he came to our Center. Thank you Matt for all the wonderful work you have done!

About VCCJames Newton Rounsavell was the Founder of Veterans Golf Park for Disabled Vets, dba Veterans Community Center. Jim was a life long golfer and began to realize that golf could help disabled vets with PTSD and TBI, two very degrading but all too common syndromes that affect our Vets. Archives
