URGENT!  We Need Help!

6/9/2026

Since opening our doors in 2013, the Veterans Community Center in Citrus Heights has grown steadily, becoming a vital gathering place for veterans, their families, and our community. What began as a modest space has evolved into a true hub of support, connection, and celebration.
However, our success has brought a growing challenge: limited parking. Even our regular programs and events are increasingly constrained, and hosting larger gatherings has become nearly impossible without additional space.
A few years ago, we were fortunate to rent the adjacent lot from its kind owner. That extra space allowed us to welcome much bigger crowds and serve our veterans more effectively. Now, that property is for sale. While the owner has been incredibly supportive of our mission, he needs to sell the lot. Without intervention, it could become multi-family housing—something that would severely limit our ability to host the events and programs our community depends on.
With the City’s blessing, the owner has given us the opportunity to purchase the lot ourselves. This would secure safe, accessible parking for the veterans, families, volunteers, and neighbors who rely on our center. But to make this possible, we need your help.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all donations are tax-deductible. The fundraiser platform will automatically generate and email a tax-donation receipt directly to you. We are reaching out with open hearts to our community, friends, and supporters. Every contribution—large or small—brings us closer to preserving this vital space and ensuring we can continue fulfilling our mission: meeting the needs of every veteran and family member who turns to us for assistance, connection, and hope.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can secure a stronger future for our Veterans Community Center.

Please see the flyer below for details and the QR Code link to donate, as well as the other methods we are able to extend.  Thank you!

SMUD in Our Face!

5/12/2026

Due to SMUD performing some electrical work right outside of our Center, we will be CLOSED this Thursday, May 14th.  We won't have any electricity while this work is going on, so rather than try to entertain in the dark (without coffee or lunch - YIKES!), we will close for the day and resume normalcy on Friday.

Thanks to all!

    About VCC

James Newton Rounsavell was the Founder of Veterans Golf Park for Disabled Vets, dba Veterans Community Center.  Jim was a life long golfer and began to realize that golf could help disabled vets with PTSD and TBI, two very degrading but all too common syndromes that affect our Vets.

Several years ago the charity got a heads up on the sale of the former Citrus Heights Community Center on Sylvan Road, and was able to acquire the property.  It has become the center of focus and attention for the Veterans here and that tradition continues with Jim's wife Jeanne after his passing.
